Connected use of the wireless battery-powered switch, fourfold, Zigbee®

You can set up a connection with your Niko Home Control installation by:

1. 
   

   • Plugging a UTP cable from your computer into a free port on the router linked to the connected controller or smart hub

   • Plugging a UTP cable from your computer directly into the WAN port of the connected controller or smart hub (if no router is available)

   •  You can also link your computer via the Wi-Fi interface

Make sure that the computer is on the same IP network as the connected controller or smart hub

Open the Niko Home Control programming software.

• You may be asked to install a software upgrade for your Niko Home Control installation. Run this upgrade and wait until completion

• The upgrade may take 5 to 20 minutes

• Software upgrades are not detected when opening the Niko Home Control programming software if there is no connection to the Niko Home Control installation (offline mode)

Choose one of the following options:

• 
  

  • Open an existing Niko Home Control project from your PC (see Opening a project)

  • Open an existing configuration file from the connected controller or smart hub

  • Create a new project with the desired floor maps (see Create a project)

Open the Create overview window.

Do the following:

1. 
   

   1. In the right-hand button bar, go to  Add controls and devices.

   2. Choose one of the following:

      • Select the  Room  at the top of the pane, or

      • Click inside a  Room  in the  Create  overview window to indicate where you want to add the Zigbee ^®  device.

The room perimeter line will be highlighted.

Do the following:

1. 
   

   1. In the  Add controls and devices  pane, go to  Connected controls.

   2. Select the desired wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch .

• The Zigbee^® device will appear as three icons in the left upper corner of the selected room: A control icon, a device icon (lamp) and a basic action icon

• You can edit each icon name: click on the icon and change the Name field

• It is possible to drag the Zigbee^® device to another room

• The field Operating mode can be set to (see also Adjusting the operating mode of a push button):

  • Short press: to activate the basic action or routine by briefly pressing the push button (default)

  • Press and hold: to activate the basic action or routine by holding down the push button. Set the Duration (minimum 1 second - maximum 59 seconds)

  • Push button mode: to activate the basic action or routine for as long as the push button is pressed

• The field Shift function can be set to Disabled (default) or Enabled. See also Create menu - Condition

Set the parameters of the Zigbee^® device for a  basic action ,  routine ,  condition , or  time schedule .

• You can change the graphic of the basic action icon. Click on the icon Visualised graphic and select a new one. This icon will also become visible in the Niko Home app

• The Basic action can:

  • be linked to a specific period after which the basic action is stopped. Tick the selection box and set the desired timer value.

  • only be shown on the Niko Home app or touchscreen. Tick the selection box. Note that the linked controls will be removed!

Pair a Zigbee ^®  device with your Niko Home Control installation and link it to an address.

1. 
   

   1. Open the  Address  overview window and go to Controls and devices. The addressing status highlights how many devices are already addressed.

   2. Click on the plus sign of a controls icon to add them to the list in the pane.

   3. Follow the explanations in the How to set up pane to pair the Zigbee^® device (see also the images below this table).

• Verify whether the Zigbee^® device is a wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch (552-720xx)

When the Zigbee^® device was previously configured to another network, reset it prior to initiating a new onboarding sequence; See also Reset Mode

• It is recommended to address a wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch within RF range of already addressed and 230 V powered Zigbee ^® This makes it possible to teach in the most optimal meshing network. Possible gaps in your Zigbee ^® network can be solved by adding extra connected socket outlets or 230 V powered Zigbee ^® devices around the dead zones. See also Zigbee® network principle .

• The addressing cannot be done offline. The programming software should be connected to your Niko Home Control installation

• Only pair one Zigbee ^® device at a time. The pairing and addressing of Zigbee ^® devices is done in the same step

• Do not press the switch button or any other buttons during the onboarding procedure

• When the pairing fails, the blue LED will not be ON for 4 seconds. In this case, the flashing blue LED will be deactivated after 90 seconds

• A device that is already addressed will display its address

Repeat steps 4-8 for every Zigbee^® device that you want to add to the Niko Home Control project. Each device that has been successfully added and addressed will display a yellow arrow next to its device icon.

When all Zigbee^® devices have been addressed, upload them to your Niko Home Control Installation.

• The upload can only be performed if a connection has been established to the Niko Home Control installation. An error message will be displayed when no controllers are found

• New software upgrades may be discovered for the Niko Home Control installation

Start the pairing sequence of a fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^®switch

The fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch is successfully paired

Set the Niko Zigbee^® device in Niko Home Control pairing mode (EZ-mode) by pressing the switch button 3 x within 6 seconds. The blue LED starts blinking for max. 90 seconds as it searches for the Zigbee^® gateway

Pairing mode= LED flashing

The Zigbee^® device is successfully added to the Zigbee^® Niko Home Control network when the blue LED turns ON for 4 seconds and subsequently switches OFF

Open the Niko Home App

Go to the hamburger menu (≡) > Settings > Devices > Switches

Press  Add switch and select the room where you want the Zigbee^® device to be located

Or

1. 
   

   1. Select the Control view and move to the desired Room

   2. Click the (+) icon (Add device). The Control tab becomes visible

   3. Select Add device > Switches.

   4. Press Add switch.

Add the Niko Zigbee^® device by pressing the switch button 3 x within a period of 6 seconds. The blue LED starts blinking for max. 90 seconds. The Zigbee^® device is successfully added to the Zigbee^® network when the blue LED is ON for 4 seconds and subsequently switches OFF

• Verify if the Zigbee^® device is a wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch (552-720xx)

• When the Zigbee^® device was previously configured to another network, reset it prior to initiating a new onboarding sequence, see Reset mode

• It is recommended to address a battery-powered Zigbee^® device within RF range of an already addressed and 230 V powered Zigbee device. This makes it possible to teach in the most optimal meshing network. • It is only possible to pair one Zigbee^® device at a time. The pairing and addressing of Zigbee ^® devices is done in the same sequence

• Do not press the switch button or any other buttons during the onboarding

• When the pairing fails, the blue LED will not be ON for 4 seconds. In this case, the blue blinking LED will be deactivated after 90 seconds

• The MAC address, installation code, and QR code are printed on the Zigbee^® device. Note that Niko Home Control does not support installation code and QR commissioning

When the Zigbee^® device is detected, a message is displayed in the Home app. Press Next

The switch and its lights have successfully been added.

• You can rename the icons of the control and lamp and/or change the room by pressing the pencil icon

• Press Next

Select if other connected Zigbee® devices control the same lamp:

• Yes, add another switch, or

• No, continue setup

• If you select Yes, the procedure will be repeated as of step 3

• No means that the configuration has been completed for that room. Confirm by clicking Done. You can use the Zigbee® device after a successful upload

• Depending on the installation size the configuration upload may take up to 2 minutes

Start the pairing sequence of a fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch

The fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^®  switch is successfully paired

Set the Niko Zigbee^® device in Niko Home Control pairing mode (EZ-mode) by pressing the switch button 3 x within 6 seconds. The blue LED starts blinking for max. 90 seconds as it searches for the Zigbee^® gateway

Pairing mode= LED flashing

 the Zigbee^® device is successfully added to the Zigbee^® Niko Home Control network when the blue LED turns ON for 4 seconds and subsequently switches OFF

Press the program button on the back side of the fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^®switch for 2 seconds. The program LED is ON

Press the button of the fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch 4 times within 4 seconds to enable Find&Bind pairing. The program LED blinks 4 times repeatedly for maximum 90 seconds. It searches for a Zigbee^® receiver in the same network that has also been put in Find&Bind mode

The fourfold wireless battery-powered Zigbee^® switch is successfully paired with a Find&Bind receiver when the program LED turns ON for 4 seconds and subsequently switches OFF again
