Installation preparations for traditional wiring
You need no special preparations in existing homes with traditional wiring when installing Niko Home Control with a wireless smart hub:
- You can reuse the electrical wiring and fuse boxes.
- The same current ratings apply for the fuses in the cabinet.
- The same wiring section applies as for classic sockets and switches.
- You do not need to provide extra space in the electrical cabinet.
- You can easily replace the original switches and socket outlets by connected switches and connected socket outlets.
- You can use the original flush-mounting boxes (also multiple flush-mounting boxes + horizontal and vertical).
Always obey local installation rules and regulations (e.g. Belgium AREI).
General preparations
- You need a Wi-Fi network with internet connection.
- To program your Niko Home Control installation you need the Niko Home app or the Niko Home Control programming software.
- To control your Niko Home Control installation you need the Niko Home app (available for iOS and Android).
Specific preparations for the connected socket outlet
- You install the connected socket outlet in a standard wall-mounting box with a min. depth of 50 mm.
You can install the connected socket outlet in multifold wall-mounting boxes.
- You cannot install the connected socket outlet in a Niko splashproof (Hydro range) box.
- You can install the connected socket outlet into a Niko surface mounting box, but doing so leaves very limited space for wiring.
