Replacing a faulty connected switching socket outlet

  1. Remove the faulty connected socket outlet and install a new one.

  2. Add the new connected socket outlet to the Niko Home Control installation:

    • Using the Niko Home Control programming software:
Address the new connected socket outlet in the 'Addressing' tab.
Attention: You don't need to remove the address of the defect connected socket outlet in the 'Addressing' tab as it will automatically be overwritten when addressing the new connected socket outlet.

    • Using the Niko Home app:

      1. Remove/delete the faulty connected socket outlet via the hamburger menu > Settings > Devices > Connected socket outlets.

      2. Add the new connected socket outlet via the same menu.

  3. Add the new connected socket outlet in the desired actions or routines.

Upgrading connected switching socket outlets

When an upgrade is available, you are notified in the newest version of the Niko Home Control programming software or Niko Home app. During an upgrade, there is no visual indication and the connected socket outlet remains operational. All the connected socket outlets automatically upgrade one by one. The upgrade of connected sockets starts within a period of at max. 6 hrs after the wireless smart hub is upgraded.

When an upgrade fails you are notified in the Niko Home Control programming software or Niko Home app. The connected socket outlet remains operational with the previously installed version.

During an upgrade, it is possible that the LED of your connected socket outlet blinks blue. This feature was implemented in the original connected socket outlets at production. Though, in later software versions this blinking function during an upgrade is removed. The connected socket outlet is upgrading transparently, and it remains operational during that upgrade. See the LED behaviour page.

What happens to the connected switching socket outlet when I need to replace or reset my wireless smart hub?

As the wireless smart hub is the master of the Niko Home Control installation, it will need to regenerate addresses for the connected socket outlets in case of a reset or replacement.

Proceed as follows:

Using the Niko Home Control programming, address all connected socket outlets one by one in the 'Addressing' tab.

Using the Niko Home app:

  1. Link all connected socket outlets one by one via the hamburger menu > Settings > Devices > Connected socket outlets.

  2. In case of a new wireless smart hub, add each connected socket outlet to the desired action or routine via the same menu.
