Configuring a onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch in a third-party installation
Consult the manufacturer’s manual for more information on how to use third-party Zigbee® devices in their home automation installation. The Niko wireless battery-powered Zigbee® devices behave in third-party networks like home automation device types that support the mandatory Zigbee® clusters and commands.
Third-party Zigbee® installations that require private clusters and/or non-mandatory clusters from their network devices might not be compatible with the connected Niko Zigbee® device. See the disclaimer on www.niko.eu/zigbee.
EZ- mode pairing
Initiate the EZ-mode sequence visualised below to add the wireless battery-powered Zigbee® devices into a third-party centralized network. To link a specific button of the wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch to an actor of the third-party network, refer to the third-party software or smartphone app or use Find&Bind pairing thereafter.
Start the pairing sequence of a onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch | The onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch is successfully paired |
Set the Niko Zigbee® device in Niko Home Control pairing mode (EZ-mode) by pressing the switch button 3 x within 6 seconds. If the Zigbee® devices were previously connected to another network, reset them all prior to this step, see Reset
Installation code or QR code commissioning can be done if supported by the third-party Zigbee® Consult the third-party user manual. The installation code, MAC address and QR-code are printed on the wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch.
Find&Bind pairing
Linking or “binding” a specific button of the wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch to Zigbee® actors is done via the third-party PC software application or a smartphone app. If you don’t dispose of the required configuration software or smartphone app, follow the Find&Bind sequence listed below:
Press the program button on the back side of the onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee®switch for 2 seconds. The program LED is ON
Press the button of the onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch 4 times within 4 seconds to enable Find&Bind pairing. The program LED blinks 4 times repeatedly for maximum 90 seconds. It searches for a Zigbee® receiver in the same network that has also been put in Find&Bind mode
The onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch is successfully paired with a Find&Bind receiver when the program LED turns ON for 4 seconds and subsequently switches OFF again |
Find&Bind pairing only works when all Zigbee® devices are already part of the same Zigbee®
A onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch in a third-party Zigbee® network will not use the meshing capability, see Zigbee® network principle
Specific Niko Home Control functions will not be enabled when Niko Zigbee® devices are connected to a third party Zigbee® controller/gateway. Functions that are specific within the Niko Home Control ecosystem, and therefore not available in third-party Zigbee® networks, are:
The possibility to configure the onefold wireless battery-powered Zigbee® switch to any actor
Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates
Predefined actions and routines from Niko Home Control
