What do you need?

General

  • No additional electrical wiring is required.

  • You have a computer with the Niko Home Control programming software version 2.18 or higher.

  • You have connected both systems to the same home network.


Your Niko Home Control installation meets the following requirements:

  • It has a wireless smart hub or a connected controller.

  • It is configured with the most recent programming software (version 2.18 or higher).

  • It has an active internet connection.

  • It is registered and you have your e-mail address and password on hand.

  • If you have not registered your Niko Home Control installation, go to Register your installation.

  • For all features, you need global electricity measurement:

    • For installation type wireless smart hub, you need to connect the smart hub to the P1 port of your digital meter with the provided P1 cable. Alternatively, you can use the wireless measuring module with clamps.

    • For installation type connected controller with analogue meter, you need to:

    • For installation type connected controller with digital meter, you need to connect your installation to the P1 port of your digital meter by using the wireless bridge for Niko Home Control and provided P1 cable.

Your SMA product meets the following requirements:

  • It is a supported SMA product and you have its serial number and (in case of connection problems) the IP address on hand.

  • It has an active internet connection.

  • MODBUS port on the inverter is enabled (preferably by your PV installer during installation).

  • Click here for a list of supported SMA products.

  • You can find the serial number on the SMA product.

  • If the MODBUS communication was not enabled by your PV installer, Niko Home Control will try to enable the port automatically. When it doesn't succeed, you will have to enter the SMA installer password during the activation procedure to enable the port.

  • Consult the product manual for the default installer password.

  • If you don't have the SMA installer password, please contact your PV installer or fill in the form on the SMA website.

  • During the activation of the link, select Autodetect on network.


How do you activate the link between Niko Home Control and your SMA system?

You activate the link in the Dashboard menu. You find the procedure here.

How do you deactivate the link between Niko Home Control and your SMA system?

You deactivate the link in the Dashboard menu. You find the procedure here.

After deactivating the link, the following happens:

  • The SMA functions will disappear from your Niko Home Control app.

  • Your SMA measurements history in Niko Home Control will be lost.
