Sonos

What can you do with Niko Home Control?

You can have the audio functions directly available in your Niko Home app, Digital black or on your touchscreen. You can also combine them in routines and/ or conditions to control multiple devices simultaneously at the simple press of a button (e.g. activate a diner scene that sets the lights to the correct level and turns the music on).

By using Niko Home Control with your Sonos system, you can do the following:

  • Start and stop the music
  • Control the volume
  • (Un)-mute the music
  • Select favourites that are added to "My Sonos"
  • Use the speakers in routines
  • Use the speaker(s) in conditions (then/else)

  • The available functionality within Niko Home Control depends upon the specific installation features of the Sonos system.
  • You can always use the Sonos app for more advanced settings and configurations.

What do you need?

General
  • No additional electrical wiring is required.
  • You have connected both systems to the same home network via cable and/or Wi-Fi.

Your Niko Home Control installation meets the following requirements:

  • Your Sonos speaker(s) have software version Sonos S1 or Sonos S2. However, you cannot connect both versions simultaneously to the same Niko Home Control installation. You can only connect one version.
  • Your Sonos speakers are installed.

How do you activate the link between your Niko Home Control and your Sonos system?

  1. Check if you have everything you need (see above ).
  2. Add the speaker to the floor plan.
  3. Create a basic action with the speaker. The speaker is controlled with the app, a touchscreen or a Digital black.
  4. Add the speaker to the desired routines and/or conditions .
  5. Address the speaker.
  6. Repeat the steps above for each speaker you want to control via Niko Home Control.
  7. Upload the configuration file to your installation.

When you have created a Sonos group using the Sonos app, activate only one speaker in Niko Home Control. Due to grouping, the other speakers being part of the group will flawlessly play the same music.

How do you deactivate the link between your Niko Home Control and your Sonos system?

  1. Remove the speaker(s) from the floor plan.
  2. Upload the configuration file to your installation.

After deactivating the link, the following happens:

  • The Sonos functions disappear from your Niko Home app, your touchscreens and Digital blacks.
  • When used in Niko Home Control routines, the Sonos functions will not be executed anymore.
