Venetian blind based on a single push button (from softwareversion 1.13.1 onwards)

Situation

This step-by-step guide explains how to program a roll-down shutter based on a single push button.

After the programming, the operation is as follows:

  • By pressing briefly, the blind will open if it is closed, or will close if it is open. If briefly pressed again while the running time is active, the blind will stop. If briefly pressed a third time, the blind will move in the opposite direction.
  • By holding down, the slats tilt open or closed.

In programming software versions older than 1.13.1 only start behaviour and stop behaviour can be assigned to venetian blinds using a single push button. This means that only the following actions are possible: completely opening and completely closing, opening and stopping or closing and stopping. It is not possible to provide complete control of venetian blinds using a single push button. Therefore the best option for a logical operation of the venetian blind is specific motor control.

Starting point

The starting point for this step-by-step guide is a project that already encompasses project information and for which a plan is already drawn up or uploaded.

Run through the steps in Adding new project and then Drawing a plan or Upload a background image if there is no existing project.

Step 1: Add a venetian blind

  • Click on Creation at the top of the screen.

  • Click on add an output.
  • Click on venetian blind in the list of options on the right hand side of the screen. The icon appears on the plan.
  • Drag the venetian blind to the correct location and give it a recognisable name.
  • Choose an existing location from the list of options or click on add a location if you have not previously defined one.

  • Click on modify basic settings to program the run time of the venetian blind.
    A pop-up window will appear.

  • Enter the measured or known run times.
  • Change the type to stepping mode.

As an installer, you may not yet have the exact times at your disposal. This is why you can always modify the data afterwards.
If you do not change the type to stepping mode, it will not be possible to tilt the slats of the blind.
  • Click on save to close the pop-up window.
  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.
  • Repeat the steps until all venetian blinds controlled by the single push button have been added.
  • Return to the start screen for Creation.

Step 2: Add a single push button

  • Click on add an input.
  • Click on single push button in the list of options in the right-hand window. The icon appears on the plan.
  • Drag the single push button to the correct location and give it a recognisable name.
  • Choose an existing location from the list of options or click on add a location if you have not previously defined one.

  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.

Step 3: Create a 'Operate venetian blinds' action

  • Click on add an action. The action will appear as a text balloon on the plan.
  • Drag the action to a logical and appropriate place, e.g. to the relevant input or output.
  • Give the action a name.

This action can not be connected to a touchscreen.
  • Choose an existing location from the list of options or click on add a location if you have not previously defined one.

  • Click on continue to go to the Players tab.
  • Click on the venetian blinds and the single push button on the plan to link them to the action.

  • Click on continue to go to the Basic behaviour tab.
  • Change the basic behaviour to predefined by clicking on the arrow in the frame of the drop-down list.

  • A pop-up window will open.

  • Click on OK to close the window.
  • Click on continue to go to the Conditions tab.
  • Click on continue to go to the Time automation tab.
  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.

Result

You can now continue with step Cabinet lay-out or step Realisation.
