Mini detector for dimmable outdoor lighting (from softwareversion 1.14 onwards)
Situation
In this step-by-step guide a mini detector on the terrace is connected to a dimmable light circuit. The purpose is to set the lighting on low as soon as it gets dark and on high once motion is detected.
Starting point
The starting point for this step-by-step guide is a project that already encompasses Project information and for which a plan is already drawn up or uploaded.
Step 1: Add a mini detector
- Click Creation at the top of the screen.
- Click on add an input.
- Click on mini detector in the list of options in the right-hand window. The icon appears on the plan.
- Drag the mini detector to the correct location and give it a recognisable name.
- Choose an existing location from the list of options or click on add a location if you have not previously defined one.
- Click on modify basic settings. A pop-up window will appear.
- Modify, as required, the switch-off delay, motion sensitivity and the light intensity threshold.
The motion sensitivity is explained based on this scenario.
The light intensity threshold is the value used by the detector to switch between dark and light. 100 lux can be used as a guideline.
- Click on save to close the pop-up window.
- Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.
Step 2: Add a dimmable lamp
- Click on add an output.
- Click on dimmable lamp in the selection list in the right-hand section of the screen. The output appears in the plan.
- Drag the dimmable lamp to the right place, and assign it a recognizable name.
- Select an existing location from the selection list, or click on add a location if the location has not previously been defined.
- Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.
Step 3: Create a 'Dimmable lamp low setting' action
- Click on add an action. The action will appear as a text balloon on the plan.
- Drag the action to a logical and appropriate place, e.g. to the relevant input or output.
- Give the action a name.
- Select an existing location from the selection list, or click on add a location if the location has not previously been defined.
- Click on continue to go to the Players tab.
- Click on the dimmable lamp in the plan to couple it to the action.
- Click on continue to go to the Basic behaviour tab.
- Under start behaviour modify the intensity of the dimmable lamp to 30%.
- Click on continue to go to the Conditions tab.
- Click on add a condition.
- Assign the condition a name. For example, Dark.
- Click no (automation).
- Click on the mini detector in the plan. Three applications will appear.
- Click on the application light sensor (right).
The mini detector will be linked to the action via a black line. - Adapt the settings of the conditional player to < (less than) 100 lux.
- Adapt the hysteresis to say 120 s.
- You will find a table with all possible combinations between the various conditional players under advanced settings.
- Go through each column and click on the black button at the bottom to indicate what should happen in each case. You can choose between start, stop or slash (/). The option / (slash) indicates that no action is required.
- Make sure that the action starts when it is dark (yes) and stops when it becomes light.
- Click on continue to go to the Time automation tab.
- Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.
Step 4: Create a 'Dimmable lamp high setting' action
- Click on add an action. The action will appear as a text balloon on the plan.
- Drag the action to a logical and appropriate place, e.g. to the relevant input or output.
- Give the action a name.
- Select an existing location from the selection list, or click on add a location if the location has not previously been defined.
- Click on continue to go to the Players tab.
- Click on the dimmable lamp in the plan to couple it to the action.
- Click on the mini detector in the plan. Two applications will appear.
- Click on the application when motion is detected (only when dark).
- Click on continue to go to the Basic behaviour tab.
The fact that you have programmed a switch-off delay in the basic settings of the mini detector, means it is not necessary to programme a delay in stop behaviour on the tab basic behaviour.
- Under stop behaviour modify the intensity of the dimmable lamp to 30%.
- Click on continue to go to the Conditions tab.
- Click on continue to go to the Time automation tab.
- Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.
Result
You can now continue with Cabinet set-up and Realisation.
