set alarm or note from software version 1.10 onwards

Situation

From version 1.10 of Niko Home Control programming software onwards you can add alarms and notes to the start and stop behaviour of any action (including an action that is started by a condition or time automation). Previously you could only couple alarms or notes to an action that was controlled by an input.

In this example a note or alarm appears when movement is detected in the hall while the residents are absent. To do this we use a motion detector combined with a virtual output that shows that the residents are absent.

Starting point

The starting point for this step-by-step plan is a project for which the Project information has already been entered and for which a drawn or uploaded plan is available.

Run through the steps in Add a new project and then Draw a plan or Upload a background image if there is no existing project.

Step 1: Creating an all-off action and adding a motion detector

  • Go to Creation in the menu at the top of the screen.
  • Click on add an action and make an all-off action that is controlled by a virtual output that indicates that absence of the residents (Click here for more information).

  • Click on add an input and select an indoor motion detector. Give the icon a logical place on the floor plan. Give the motion detector a name and location.
  • Click save to return to the Creation start screen.

Step 2: Creating an action that triggers an alarm

  • Click on add an action. Give the action a name such as Movement during absence.

  • Click continue to go to the Players tab. Do not indicate any player.
  • Click continue to go to the Basic behaviour tab. Standard basic behaviour consists of a start and stop behaviour.
  • Click on add a note or alarm in the start behaviour. Choose Alarm in the subsequent list on the left.

Difference note – alarm. An alarm will appear in a pop-up window on the touchscreen and on the smart phone or tablet if the app is active in the foreground. A note is added to the list of notes under Settings in the app and on the touchscreen.
  • In the blue box on the right, add the text that will appear in the pop-up message. In this case Movement detected in the hall.

  • Click continue to go to the Conditions tab.
  • Add a condition, give it a name and click on no, automation.
  • Click on the virtual output and the motion detector to select them as players.
  • Complete the table as follows:

  • Click continue to go to the Time automation tab and then save.
  • Go to Project Information in the menu at the top of the screen to save the project.
