Indoor motion detectors in a long corridor

The starting point for this step-by-step plan is a project in which all of the various inputs, outputs and actions are defined.

In this step-by-step plan, various indoor motion detectors are installed in a long corridor.

If you do not yet have a project, follow the steps in adding a new project and thereafter in drawing a plan or upload a background image.

Click Creation at the top of the screen.

Click on add an input.

Click on indoor motion detector in the selection list in the right-hand section of the screen.

The input appears in the plan.

Drag the indoor motion detector to the right place, and assign it a recognizable name.

Select an existing location from the selection list, or click on add a location if the location has not previously been defined.

Click on modify basic settings.

A pop-up window appears.

If necessary, modify the Switch-off delay.

The switch-off delay is the time between the last motion detected and the activation of the stop behaviour. The factory setting for the switch-off delay is 10 seconds and can be adjusted (range: 10 s – 59 min 59 s).

Click save.

The pop-up window closes.

Using the method described above, add as many indoor motion detectors as needed.

Click save.

You return to the start screen of the Creation step.

Click on add an output.

Click on lamp in the selection list in the right-hand section of the screen.

The lamp appears in the plan.

Drag the lamp to the right place, and assign it a recognizable name.

From the selection list, choose the same location that you used for the indoor motion detector.

Click save.

You return to the start screen of the Creation step.

Click on add an action.

The action appears in the plan as a text balloon.

Drag the action to a place that you consider logical and convenient, for example, next to the relevant input or output.

Assign the action a name.

From the selection list, choose the same location that you used for the indoor motion detector.

Click continue.

You go to the players tab.

Click on the lamp to couple it to the action.

Click continue.

You go to the basic behaviour tab.

Because you have programmed a switch-off delay in the basic settings, you do not need to program a delay under the stop behaviour in the basic behaviour tab.

If, in addition to the lamp, you want to couple another output which must remain switched on longer, then enter a delay for this second output under the stop behaviour in the basic behaviour tab. For example, a ventilator which must remain switched on for another minute after the light has switched off.

Click continue.
You go to the conditions tab.

Click on add a condition.

Assign the condition a name.

Click no (automation).

Click one-by-one on the indoor motion detectors in the plan to couple them as a condition players to the action.

Two modes appear.

Select the in motion (dark) mode.

It is possible that at, night, an indoor motion detector that is installed close to the front door can be influenced by the incident street lighting entering the corridor. It is possible that, during the day, an indoor motion detector that is located at the back of a corridor beyond a corner or angle is unable to detect daylight that enters through the window of the front door. Take these situations into account when selecting a mode, and, if necessary, add a time condition to optimize the operation of the detectors.

Click continue.

Modify the Advanced settings for each combination of indoor motion detector by clicking on the last line as often as necessary until the desired start or stop behaviour has been defined.

When a user walks down a long corridor, it is possible that the first motion detector, which switched on the light, no longer detects motion after some time. In order to prevent the light from being switched off when the initial motion detector no longer detects anything, you must also allow the other motion detectors to start the action individually or in combination with another motion detector.

Click continue.

You go to the time automation tab.

Click save.

You return to the start screen of the Creation step.

You can now continue with the Cabinet set-up step.

Select a switching module 2U or a switching module 4U for the lamp that is switched on by the indoor motion detectors. The indoor motion detectors are inputs and do not require a module in the cabinet.
