Blinking lamps with indoor siren

Situation

This step-by-step plan explains how you can set all lamps, in the Niko Home Control software, to go on and off for a specific period when the indoor siren sounds.

Starting point

The starting point for this plan is a project which already encompasses Project information, which involves a signed or uploaded plan and where several inputs, outputs and actions have already been added.

Run through the steps in Adding a new project and then Drawing a plan or Upload a background image if there is no existing project.

Step 1: Create an action "Blinking Lamps"

  • Go to the Creation tab in the menu at the top of the screen.

  • Click on add an action. The action will appear as a text balloon on the plan.
  • Drag the action to a logical and appropriate place.

  • Give the action a name.
  • Choose the location of the action from the list of options.
  • Click on continue to go to the players tab.

Step 2: Choose players for the action "blinking lamps"

  • Click on the lamps to link them to the action as players.

  • Click on continue to go to the basic behaviour tab.

Step 3: Define basic behaviour of the action "Blinking lights"

In this example, we would like the lamps to go on and off for four seconds and then stay on as long as the siren is on. To do so, we work exclusively with a start behaviour.
  • Delete the outputs for stop behaviour by clicking on the red cross behind the line.
  • Click on add another element.
  • Modify the start moment from 0 to 1 second.

  • Click on (choose an output) and choose one of the lamps from the list of options.

  • Modify the behaviour of the lamp to off.
This lamp will now be immediately switched on when the indoor siren sounds. After one second, it will be switched off.
  • Click on add another element once again.
  • Modify the start moment to 2 seconds.
  • Click on (choose an output) and select the same lamp from the list of options.
  • Modify the behaviour of the lamp to on.
This lamp will now be immediately switched on when the indoor siren sounds. After one second, it will be switched off. After two seconds, the lamp will be switched on again.

  • Repeat this process for this lamp until you have four seconds.

  • Repeat the previous steps for all selected outputs.
  • Click on continue to go to the conditions tab.

Step 4: Add a condition to "Blinking lamps"

  • Click on add a condition.
  • Give the condition a name, e.g. "Indoor siren"

  • Click on no (automation).

The action will start automatically when the indoor siren is triggered.

  • Click on the indoor siren to link this to the action as a condition player.

The indoor siren will be linked to the action on the plan via a black line.

  • Click on continue to go to the time automation tab.
  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.

Result

Now continue with Cabinet set-up  and Realisation.
