Adding a door lock, call action, chimes and bell buttons to the access control from version 1.10 onwards

Situation

From version 1.10 of the Niko Home Control programming software onwards the functions for access control are integrated in the programming logic.

Starting point

The starting point for this step-by-step plan is a project for which the Project information has already been entered and for which a drawn or uploaded plan is available.

Run through the steps in Add a new project and then Draw a plan or Upload a background image if there is no existing project.

Step 1: Adding access control functions

  • Go to Creation in the menu at the top of the sceen.

  • Click on add access control functions.
If a touchscreen or smart phone was not previously added to the installation, the following window appears:

  • Select the device that will be used as the internal unit for access control: a touchscreen, a smartphone or tablet or both.
  • Click OK to close the window and go to the Door locks tab. The icon for access control appears on the plan, together with the icons for a touchscreen and/or smartphone or tablet. Drag them to a logical place on the floor plan.

Step 2: Adding a door lock

  • Click in the Door locks tab on add an extra other switched device.
  • Drag the output to the correct place on the plan.
  • Give the output a name, e.g. Lock front door
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Corridor).

  • Click save to return to the Door locks tab.
  • Click on the output to connect it to the access control.
The output is now connected with the access control via an orange line.

  • Set the desired activation time for the lock. The standard time is 5 seconds.
  • Click on continue to go to the Call actions tab.

Step 3: Adding call actions

You can select which action should take place when a visitor rings the bell. You can, for example, set the light on the driveway or in the hall to switch on immediately so the visitor does not arrive in darkness. You can only choose actions which:

  • were already programmed in the creation phase
  • have a start and/or stop behaviour and an output
  • are linked to the touchscreen or the smartphone/tablet.

These actions do not appear on the control screens of the touchscreen or the smartphone/tablet.
  • Click in the Call actions tab on the action(s) on the plan that you want to link to the access control.

  • Click continue to go to the Chimes tab.

Step 4: Adding chimes

  • Click in the Chimes tab on add an extra other switched device.
  • Drag the output to the appropriate place on the plan.
  • Give the output a name, e.g. Chime front door
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Living room).

  • Click save to return to the Chimes tab.
  • Click the output in the plan to connect it to the access control.
The output is now connected with the access control via an orange line.

  • Set the desired activation time for the chime. The standard time is 5 seconds.
  • Click continue to go to the Bell buttons tab.

Step 5: Adding bell buttons

  • Click in the Bell buttons tab on add an extra input.
  • Drag the input to the appropriate place on the plan.
  • Give the input a name, e.g. Extra bell
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Corridor).

  • Click save to return to the Bell buttons tab.
  • Click the input in the plan to connect it to the access control.
The input is now connected with the access control via an orange line.

  • Click save to return to the Creation start screen.

  • Go to Project information in the menu at the top of the screen to save the project.
