Manual NHC Nikobus interface

Situation

These steps show how to control a Nikobus output using Niko Home Control (part 1), and how to control a Niko Home Control output using Nikobus (part 2).

Starting point

The starting point in this example is a new project with no inputs or outputs. Of course, you can also start with an existing project.

Part 1: Controlling a Nikobus output using Niko Home Control.

Add a single push button

  • Go to Creation in the menu bar at the top.
  • Click on add an input.
    In the left hand side of the screen, you can now see the plan of the home and, in the right hand side, a list of options.
  • Click on single push button.
  • Drag the icon to the correct place on the plan.
  • Give the input a name (e.g. Push button Entrance)
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Entrance).

  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen. 

Add a Nikobus Output

  • Click on add an output.
    In the left hand side of the screen, you can now see the plan of the home and, in the right hand side, a list of options.
  • Click on Nikobus output.
  • Drag the icon to the correct place on the plan.
  • Give the output a name (e.g. Light point entrance)
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Entrance).

  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen. 

Create an action 'Light entrance'

  • Click on add an action. The action will appear as a text balloon on the plan.
  • Drag the icon to a logical and appropriate place on the plan.
  • Give the action a clear name, for example Light entrance.
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined.

  • Click on continue to go to the Players tab.
  • Choose the single push button as the input.
  • Choose the Nikobus output as the output.

  • Click on continue  to go to the Basic behaviour tab.
  • Click on continue to go to the Conditions tab.
  • Click on continue to go to the Time automation tab.
  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.

Complete the Nikobus address in the NHC software.

  • Go to the Nikobus configuration software.
  • As an Input add a double generic control
  • Select the double generic control.
  • Click on Address/Parameters.

  • If necessary, retrieve the address of the component by clicking Retrieve! .
  • Select and copy(Ctrl+c) the address of the component.

  • Go to the Niko Home Control configuration software.
  • Click on the Nikobus output.
  • Paste(Ctrl+v) the address of the component in the Nikobus address field.

  • Click on save.
  • Go to the Nikobus configuration software.
  • Make a new connection between a switch output and the generic control.

  • You can now programme the Nikobus installation and the Niko Home Control installation and test their operation.

Part 2: Controlling a Niko Home Control output using Nikobus.

Add a Nikobus input 

  • Go to Creation in the menu bar at the top.
  • Click on add an input.
    In the left hand side of the screen, you can now see the plan of the home and, in the right hand side, a list of options.
  • Click on Nikobus input.
  • Drag the icon to the correct place on the plan.
  • Give the input a name (e.g. Nikobus push button living room)
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Living room).

  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen. 

Add a connected lamp

  • Go to Creation in the menu bar at the top.
  • Click on add an output.
    In the left hand side of the screen, you can now see the plan of the home and, in the right hand side, a list of options.
  • Click on lamp.
  • Drag the icon to the correct place on the plan.
  • Give the output a name (e.g. Lamp living room)
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined (e.g. Living room).

  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen. 

Create an action 'Light living room'

  • Click on add an action. The action will appear as a text balloon on the plan.
  • Drag the icon to a logical and appropriate place on the plan.
  • Give the action a clear name, for example Light living room.
  • Choose a location from the list of options or add a location if the location has not been previously defined.

  • Click on continue to go to the Players tab.
  • Choose the Nikobus input as the input.
  • Choose the connected lamp as the output.

  • Click on continue  to go to the Basic behaviour tab.
  • Click on continue to go to the Conditions tab.
  • Click on continue to go to the Time automation tab.
  • Click on save to return to the Creation start screen.

Complete the Nikobus address in the NHC software.

  • Go to the Nikobus configuration software.
  • Add a  single push button
  • Connect the double push button with an output of a switching module.
  • Select the Nikobus push button.
  • Click on Address/Parameters.

  • If necessary, retrieve the address of the component by clicking Retrieve! .
  • Select and copy(Ctrl+c) the address of the component.

  • Go to the Niko Home Control configuration software.
  • Click on the Nikobus input.
  • Paste(Ctrl+v) the address of the component in the Nikobus address field.

  • You can now programme the Nikobus installation and the Niko Home Control installation and test their operation.
