Creating a push button extension

What is a push button extension?

A number of products for Niko Home Control traditional wiring have one or more extension terminals(s). You can connect a classical push button to these extension terminal(s), e.g. 170-0000x. Please note that you cannot add a LED lighting unit to the classical push button when you use it as an extension to Zigbee® connected devices.

This topic describes how you can configure this single push button as a push button extension in the Niko Home Control II v2.x programming software.

Starting point

Procedure

In this example, we will create two controls in the "Hallway":

  • a connected single switch
  • a single push button extension

We connect the single push button extension to the connected single switch.

  1. In the right-hand button bar, click on the Add controls and devices button.
    Result:
The Add controls and devices pane appears and shows the categories into which the controls and devices are subdivided.
  2. Choose the desired room at the top of the pane or click on in the room on the floor plan.
In this example we choose the "Hallway" as room.

  3. Click the arrow next to Connected Controls to open it.

  4. Select the desired connected control from the list.
In this example we choose the "Connected single switch".
Result: The control is placed in the room: as a switch, a device (eg a lamp) and a basic action.

  5. If you wish, you can modify the name of the control.
  6. Adjust the parameters if necessary.
  7. Drag the control and device to the correct location on the floor plan.
  8. Click on the Close button to return to the Add controls and devices pane.
  9. Select the desired push button extension from the list, also under the "Connected controls" category.
In this example we choose the "Single push button extension".
Result: The selected control is placed in the room.

  10. Select the connected control on the plan.
In this example, that is the connected single switch.
Result: The push button extension is linked to input E1 of the connected control.

  11. Click on the Close button to return to the Add controls and devices pane.
  12. Click on the Close button to return to the Create pane.
