Upgrading smart plugs

When an upgrade is available, you are notified in the newest version of the Niko Home Control programming software or Niko Home app. During an upgrade, there is no visual indication and the smart plug remains operational. All the smart plugs automatically upgrade one by one. The upgrade of smart plugs starts within a period of at max. 6 hrs after the wireless smart hub is upgraded.

When an upgrade fails you are notified in the Niko Home Control programming software or Niko Home app. The smart plug remains operational with the previously installed version.

During an upgrade, LED of your smart plug blinks green. The smart plug is upgrading transparently, and it remains operational during that upgrade. See the LED behaviour page.

What happens to the smart plug when I need to replace or reset my wireless smart hub?

As the wireless smart hub is the master of the Niko Home Control installation, it will need to regenerate addresses for the smart plug in case of a reset or replacement.

Proceed as follows:

Using the Niko Home Control programming, address all smart plugs one by one in the 'Addressing' tab.

Using the Niko Home app:

  1. Link all smart plugs one by one via the hamburger menu > Settings > Devices > Smart plugs.
  2. In case of a new wireless smart hub, add each smart plug to the desired action or routine via the same menu.
